Internal Steel Sheeting Installation with Timber Framing
The Brief:
Our client sought a secure solution for an office building during the Christmas period, with a specific stipulation: no damage should be caused to the building’s exterior framework. The goal was to protect the openings of the building without affecting its external appearance or structure.
Our Solution:
To meet this need, we suggested the installation of timber framing on the interior of the required openings. This would provide a secure anchor point to attach perforated steel sheeting without causing damage to the exterior framework. The framing was designed to fit snugly within the openings, offering both structural integrity and ease of removal once the project was complete.
Implementation:
- Timber Framing Installation: The timber frames were carefully positioned and secured inside the building, ensuring they aligned with the interior dimensions of the openings that needed to be protected.
- Steel Sheeting Attachment: Once the frames were in place, the perforated steel sheeting was screwed into the timber framework. This method offered a secure solution for safeguarding the building’s openings from the inside while preventing any damage to the exterior.
- Completion and Documentation: Upon completion of the installation, we provided the client with our standard documentation, which included before and after photos of the works. This documentation not only served as a record of the work but also provided visual proof of the minimal disruption caused to the building’s exterior.
The Outcome:
Our client was extremely pleased with the final results. The installation was carried out efficiently, and the timber framing system met the requirements for securing the building without compromising the structure. After the initial project was completed, the client requested additional work: securing two interior windows inside separate rooms of the building. This request was promptly addressed, reinforcing the effectiveness of our solution.
Key Insights:
- Timber Framing as a Key Component: This case study highlights the importance of timber framing in situations where there is no existing external framework to secure the steel sheeting. It also ensures that no damage is done to the building’s exterior.
- Flexibility of Solution: The ability to adapt the framing system for different requirements, such as securing interior windows, showcases the flexibility and reliability of this method.
