Northold Group – Former GE Building – Steel Sheets, Security Doors & Waste Removal

 The Brief:

Northold Group first contacted us early May 2024 to help secure a large vacant site, based in Rugby, which had previously been severely vandalised internally and externally with the unfortunate instances of theft of cables, metals and drain covers. We were also informed that despite having perimeter fencing, access could still be gained by trespassers on foot or vehicles through insecure double gates and holes in mesh fencing to the rear of the site.

Northold Group required our services to provide steel security boarding to close all current access points to prevent further trespassing and a steel security door installation to gain access for site operatives. Drain covers were also missing so these needed to be replaced.

A request was made for all external waste to be removed from the cable theft, which included metal pedestrian barriers and objects that could be used to aid in forced entry so this was also included in our proposal.

Health & Safety is a huge priority for us at Safe Site Security Solutions, so it was important to provide many safety signs to warn passers-by and from the clients perspective the protection of the property was paramount.

The Solution:

As an immediate follow up to our conducted site survey, we presented to the client our proposal to secure the areas in question. These comprised of:

Before Northold Group Building
Perforated Steel Sheet on Northold Group

The supply and install of all galvanised perforated steel sheet fitted with anti-tamper screws into the existing frames and brickwork of all ground floor openings and vulnerable windows reached from the flat roof areas. This was inclusive of all existing roller shutters to be secured shut.

Northold-Group Entrance Door Before
Northold-Group Entrance with Steel Security Door and Perforated Steel Sheet

A steel security door was supplied and installed with two 5 lever mortice locks for secure access. The client wanted to hire this door from us, rather than purchased. Due to the size of the original door/opening, we complimented the door with steel sheeting surrounding the outer frame.

Gaping Holes Fencing
Galvanised perforated steel sheet

We secured the two gaping holes in the mesh fencing located beyond the rear carpark with the galvanised perforated steel sheet to stop easy access for trespassers.

Finally, we supplied and installed a heavy duty steel chain and combination padlock system to the access gates which were previously left unlocked.

The Outcome:

From initial enquiry to site survey, then job commencing to finish, we liaised with Northold Group every step of the way, ensuring both parties were happy with all proposals and once the works were completed, our client was very happy and safe in the knowledge that their site was entirely secured.
